Encased road to Early Access
A few months ago Encased was released in early access, and the first serious content patch is about to be released.

Encased has come a long way from the idea, to the first demo, Kickstarter campaign, numerous alpha, beta tests and, finally, early access. Sure, the team still has a big and interesting road ahead, but let's remember how it all started.
First Demo

In the first months, developers wrote dozens of documents, where they described every aspect of life under the Dome. The very first version of the game was ready only in the spring of 2018 and was a tech demo, where a player model with basic animation ran along the golden sand.

Sometimes golden sand was replaced by gray caves or stones. Occasionally the game could show a beautiful landscape, but usually the camera immediately hit an invisible wall.

It was a phase of trial and error, where everything was a subject to change.
Kickstarter

By September 2018, Encased looked completely different. The demo was playable and the levels were completely different. Journalists saw the very first version of Magellan station, wrote many articles and shared the latest screenshots at that time. It's funny, but the whole last year's version of the station was less than one floor of the current version.

The period after the kickstarter and before the early access release was remembered by the developers as an endless race: the creative search was completed and it was time to polish and create content. A combat system, a global map and random encounters appeared and started to work as intended.
Steam Early Access

Early access release was postponed several times, but on September 26th the Dome gates were opened and the first staff members were in. The initial version of early access included a story prologue and a global map with random encounters.

After the prologue, each player could feed bullets to giant mutants, robots of an ancient civilization and wasteland bandits.

What will happen next? Probably only the writers of the project know, but one thing is known for certain: this is the start of a long journey. There is a big road ahead, and you are in the first car of the train called "Encased".
